Traditions and Culture

From this region come many of the great poets, writers or artists of Romania, among them Nicolae Iorga, the historian who wrote over 2000 books and articles, the composer George Enescu and the national poet Mihai Eminescu.

Interesting museums exist in each of the main cities in the region and sometimes even in the village. Some of them retain testimonies from long gone: Neolithic, Getic and pre-Roman times, while others have exhibits that exemplify the traditions and culture of the area.

But the cultural life here is not just an exhibit, the region lives intensively from cultural and artistic point of view in any season of the year through festivals, classical music, pop, dance and rock concerts. Theater and theater festivals also play a very important role in the life of this region.

Another attraction is rural festivals. Some of them are traditional customs or religious holidays that mark rural life throughout the region, and others are local activities, with little or no publicity or outside participation.
